Okay,
so it's Tuesday night and Thursday is my surgery. The reason I'm writing this
blog is because when my doctor first mentioned surgery as an option for the
pain in my foot I was freaked out. As soon as we got home my mom and I
instantly checked online for a website, blog, or article of a young girl that
was getting a Lapidus Bunionectomy and to see if it would even be worth my
time. We found nothing. But we did find a couple sites that gave some more
background info on it that only made a lot scarier!! Anyways,
right now, I am in a huge amount of pain. My bunion is so bad I can't even walk
normally so I've been on crutches for the last month. :(
May 6,
2013 - I went to see Dr. D for the first time. He mentioned surgery then, but
didn't exactly recommend it quite yet. So he gave me cortisone shot and called
it a day.
May 22,
2013 - This time, I needed the surgery. Only a week later my shot had
completely worn off (but I don't think my skating exactly helped
either) We then scheduled it for June
27, 2013...THAT'S A WHOLE MONTH AWAY!!!!!!!!
I
didn't know how I was going to last over an entire month!!! But somehow, I
managed to survive. I really hope that this will be the blog that I wished
I'd found when I was trying to make up my mind. I promise to keep you
posted on my surgery and recovery. ENJOY!! :)
KEEP
CALM & CARRY ON

ReplyDeleteOk, so tomorrow's the big day. I know you're nervous, excited, anxious, scared and who knows what else. But I also know you are one of the strongest girls I know and you will get through this! Just think, after tomorrow you will be on your way to recovery and back on the ice before you know it!! And most importantly, never forget, I LOVE YOU MORE!! <3
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting. What does your foot look like now and are you back doing what you love? If you are skating now, do you have any pain?
Thank you thank you thank you for this. My 14 year old son will be having this surgery in January and this will help immensely!
